| Description |
As a member of the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) facilities at Ealing Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital, the post holder will provide clinical assessment of and diagnosis for patients and make timely decisions regarding future management. They will also provide support to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in Clinical Governance/ Effectiveness activities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Managerial To manage the Urgent Care caseload in partnership with other practitioners to ensure quality, timely outcomes for patients and carers To act as an accountable general practitioner, managing clinical care and facilitating general management through partnership with the management team To produce and comply with a work plan developed in partnership with an appropriate Unit Manager and/or Service Manager and their Professional Lead to ensure all practice and other work is delivered appropriately and safely To adhere to GMC policy and guidelines for Best Medical Practice at all times Leadership To provide appropriate medical leadership to service requirements To identify and utilise best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines To be actively involved in developmental processes within the centre, in partnership with other centres as appropriate, for local, company or other service enhancements To take ownership of and provide leadership for the centre team in specified clinical areas as part of a service development programme To develop positive collaborative working relationships across all areas of the care team (primary, acute, secondary and social care) and with carers To undertake appropriate clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risk identified To be actively involved and engaged in service and wider team meetings and forums to promote communication and development Clinical To provide high quality personal medical services in the context of an urgent care centre to the patients To liaise with primary care providers with regards patients seen in the UCC and with other agencies external to the UCC/A&E to serve the patients best interests and to support them to manage their on-going health To respond to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate. To interpret investigations including blood results, ECG and Xray. Training in Xray interpretation will be provided. To dispense medication from stock within agreed medicines management protocols. To provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all patients attending the UCC |
